23 Outstanding and Vivid Digital Paintings by Wen-Xi Chen
Aug 28, 2009 Featured, Inspiration
Wen-Xi Chen, also known as acidlullaby, is a digital painter and artist from the United Kingdom. She started to paint digitally at the age of 13 and, realising the number of expensive oil brushes she’d save from the consequence of not washing, and never looked back.
Wen-Xi is a master of capturing the beauty of the human form, and many of her paintings involve a pose frozen in time, expressing emotion and feeling through the use of vivid colors and lighting. Today, it’s my pleasure to feature 23 of Wen-Xi’s beautiful paintings here. If you like her work, be sure to check out her personal website, http://www.acidlullaby.net/ and her deviantART page as well: http://acidlullaby.deviantart.com/
She has a variety of tutorials available, so if you’re an aspiring artist, be sure to check them out so you can get a glimpse into the mind of a creative genius.
Thanks for reading, everyone, and enjoy.

31 Gorgeous Contemporary Abstract Paintings by Mario Martinez
Aug 19, 2009 Inspiration
MARS-1 (aka Mario Martinez) is a left-handed artist who spends most of his time in the right side of his brain, communicating through a visual language. His unique imagery explores possibilities of otherworldly existence through highly developed, multi-layered landscapes. Often employing a fuzzy-logic aesthetic, Mars-1’s artwork has a sentient appearance, like a tulpa—which in mysticism, is the concept of a materialized thought that manifests into physical form. His unique style has been described as urban-Gothic, sci-fi abstracted, quasi-organic form.
Early inspirations include: graffiti, animation, comic book characters, ufology, extraterrestrials, unexplored life, mysteries of the universe, alternate realities and the abstract quality of existence. At the age of 13, Mars-1 began writing graffiti in his hometown of Fresno. He later attended Academy of Art in San Francisco, where he currently lives and works, remaining heavily active in the city’s contemporary art scene.
The true meaning of Mars-1’s imagery is ultimately left to the viewer’s interpretation. The artist feels this brings his creations full-circle, encouraging his audience not only to decipher the messages he wishes to convey but to receive thoughts and ideas of their own, as well. Be sure to check out his website, located here: http://www.mars-1.com/info.html
